The Soul Urge Numbers in Numerology

The Soul Urge number in numerology is calculated by using only the vowels of the person’s full birth name. Write out the person’s full birth name (whatever is on their birth certificate) and leave a space below each vowel for its corresponding number. The letter A is 1, U is 3, E is 5, O is 6 and I is 9. Y is included if it serves as a vowel in the name and is assigned the number 7. W can also be considered a vowel if there is another vowel before it that blends with the “w” to make one sound (like in the name Shaw). In that case the W is assigned the number 5. Add together all of the vowels and reduce accordingly so that the result is between 1 and 9 (the master numbers of 11 and 22 can be reduced here). This will be the Soul Urge number- which is a glimpse into what the heart most desires on the life path.

A Soul Urge number of 1 will allow a person to feel content when they are excelling in competition. There is a need to win in order to feel appreciated and accepted. It is a combination of needing to prove something to their own mind and seeking the approval of others. A number of 2 will make a person have a deep need and longing for harmony and love in their life. In order to achieve that, pain, conflict and stress have to be avoided. With diplomacy and mediation, they will feel truly fulfilled.

A Soul Urge number of 3 will allow a person to gain their sense of calm through creative acts. Their confidence grows in expressing their writing or verbal abilities- especially when they are used to interact with other people. A number of 4 will need financial security to feel safe and secure in their environment. Debt and economic uncertainty wear at their nerves. Being recognized professionally for their abilities and knowledge will be icing on the cake.

A Soul Urge number of 5 make for a person that needs freedom in order to explore the world. A lack of restraints will allow for happiness and fulfillment for these people. A number 6 will find their happiness in others- more specifically, in the recognition that others have of their ability to provide care. They will be dedicated to making the lives of those other people better.

A Soul Urge number of 7 make for a person who needs to do some deep spiritual digging to see what is beneath all of the layers of the world. They will often retreat into introspection in order to find the answers and truths they are seeking. A number 8 wants monetary success, power and authority. These things all translate into security and fulfillment. A number 9 is all about the greater good. Making a difference and benefiting humanity will make them happier than serving their own needs. They will live life fully and selflessly.
